During the past 2 years and once Lebanese mountains were all dressed in white, I’ve got used to practice the most beautiful winter activity I wait for every year called “Snowshoeing”.

Beside having many health and fitness benefits, this activity is great for every active outdoor person. It provides a cardio workout while also building strength, agility, balance and endurance.

In 2018, I’ve visited:

  • Falougha Mountains: It is a peaceful village of Mount Lebanon that illustrates the Lebanese archetypal summer and winter resort. Two winter rivers intersect the village which is known for its water sources and green hills, dotted with a wide variety of trees and furrowed by hiking trails. Falougha is synonymous with adventure and discovery.
  • Tannourine Cedars Forest Nature Reserve: It protects one of the largest and densest cedar forests in Lebanon. 80% of the trees in the forest are cedars. A trip to Tannourine is well worth it! The stunning mountainous landscape, with cedars seemingly defying gravity and growing on extremely vertical slopes, is impressive.

And in 2019, I’ve planned two snowshoeing trips to:

  • Ahlam Golf and Mountain Village in Faqra Kfardebian area: It is located an hour away from Beirut’s city center, with a 1,100,000 sqm real estate project around nature and healthy living. The forest is amazing and the trees are very unique making from this place a wonderful playground for easy snowshoeing and hiking trips.
  • Hadath El Jebbeh: It is a town located in Bsharri District in the North Governorate of Lebanon. It is situated on a hill at an altitude of 1 500 meters, overlooking the Qannoubine valley, ‘The Valley of Saints’. I won’t say more about this town but it is by far the most wonderful snowshoeing adventure I’ve ever done in Lebanon.

During winter season as well, I’ve made sure to visit Ehden and Zaarour Mountains and captured the nature dressed in white out there as well.

Above are some pics that were taken during the past winter seasons, I hope you will like them!
