North Lebanon Governorate is one of 8 Governorates of Lebanon and its consists of 6 districts:
1) Batroun
2) Bcharreh
3) Koura
4) Minieh – Dannieh
5) Tripoli
6) Zgharta
I visited regions located in the 6 districts and I really enjoyed the views and cultures in this northern part of my native country.
I won’t detail every region I visited but briefly I can strictly recommend to visit:
  • The most wonderful waterfalls in Lebanon (at least for me), called “Oyoun El Samak” which are located in a lovely village lying between the districts of Denniyeh and Akkar. The village is located in Wadi Jhannam and it is home to a splendid lake and waterfalls, surrounded by a green landscape and blooming trees. It is 95 kms away from Beirut.
  • Ehden village is a mountainous town in the heart of the northern mountains of Lebanon and within  Zgharta District.
Once I visited Ehden, I stayed in “Mairie Boutique Hotel” which is a simple and comfortable place where you can enjoy Ehden views and access to “Al Midan” by walking where you can enjoy eating “Sahlab” the traditional sweet platter of the town. You can find many pictures taken in touristic sites around Ehden such as Saydet El Hosn, Jouiit Waterfalls, Bnachii Lake and Ste Rafka Ayto.
  • Meghrak a magnificent hidden spot in Batroun! It’s a small non-profit eco-tourist project where you can enjoy a walk, organize a picnic, or camp under the stars! This place looks like it’s straight out of a fairytale book.

Beside Ehden and Oyoun El Samak, I’ve visited:

  • Sir El Dinniyeh located in Akkar region where we found a hanging bridge in the sky from which you can see Akkar at its best.

  • Qannoubine or Kadisha Valley where i have experienced one of the most peaceful hikes I’ve ever done. Nature pace and the sound of the water out there all around many churches in the area make your soul reboot.

  • Tannourine Mountains with their natural reserve and the villages around such as Douma and Bchaale are very unique too. I stayed in “Mountain View Tannourine” an amazing get away that makes you feel that you are outside Lebanon and lets you chill in an incredible way.

  •  When it comes to my favorite places in Lebanon, Saydet el Nourieh Orthodox Convent in the Batrouni village of Hamat, ranks high. Its is an Orthodox monastery that was built in the 17th century. I think it’s very difficult not to be taken by the beauty of the mountain descending almost perpendicularly into the sea, giving you a breathtaking view of the Mediterranean and for religious people a very serene place to pray.
